These statements form the core of the Greek morality of sexual intercourse. We learn from the Iliad that a man can steal another man's wife but it is a real evil. From the Odyssey we learn that sexual intercourse with another women is not evil but rather something that we do for pleasure. We also learn that sexual partners must trust one another.
